Chinese Whispers The China Thrillers Book 6 eBook Peter May Reviews

  • Peter May has done an excellent job of introducing the reader the Cultural Attitude of modern China . The story centers around a police Chief Inspector and his relationship with an American woman, a forensic pathologist, who sees more than a regular coroner while performing an autopsy. In each book ancient traditions collide with Maoist philosophy and modern, universally accepted world values. Peter May spent time with a police inspector prior to writing these excellent novels. It gets involved especially when he allows an Asian man to fall in love with an American woman.
  • This is Peter May back to his best. Once you get into the story you have just to find out who the villain in the piece is. And yet there are sufficient loose ends from which to start a sequel. Again great attention to detail and the local Chinese scene.
  • Every book in the 'China Series' by Peter May has been a delight. Wherever the stories are set, Peter May researches the subject so well and his characters are always interesting. A great story.
  • Li Yan and Margaret have done it again. This would make a terrific TV series. Peter May transports you to each of his characters places of work. Whether it be the bitter wind swept far north of Scotland, the beautiful countryside and cities of France or Beijing and the wonderful history and culture of China. He is a master storyteller and I am dreading if he decides to kill off any of his literary characters. Cant wait for the new books.
  • I've enjoyed reading these 6 books, however, having finished Chinese Whispers I'm left feeling cheated out of an epilogue . The 6 books are all about a love story and the reader is left feeling unsatisfied. I presume that Peter May when finishing this book thought about writing a 7th one, but it looks like that won't be happening, it's a shame.
  • Dark, intense series set in China. Has a real sense of place. Wish Peter M. would right more soon. Hard to get these books in US, but worth the effort if you do not mind your mysteries gritty. Appreciate a strong male and female lead, both equally well developed. You care about these characters. Mysteries are well plotted.
  • Another very good read with great atmosphere and scene setting and a plausible ending
  • The last in the Chinese series though how the book finished makes me think there just could another one.
Had all the suspence and red herrings you except from Peter May.
A very good read, I enjoyed it.
