Is everything connected? Can we sense what's happening to loved ones thousands of miles away? Why are we sometimes certain of a caller's identity the instant the phone rings? Do intuitive hunches contain information about future events? Is it possible to perceive without the use of the ordinary senses?

Many people believe that such "psychic phenomena" are rare talents or divine gifts. Others don't believe they exist at all. But the latest scientific research shows that these phenomena are both real and widespread, and are an unavoidable consequence of the interconnected, entangled physical reality we live in.

Albert Einstein called entanglement "spooky action at a distance"- the way two objects remain connected through time and space, without communicating in any conventional way, long after their initial interaction has taken place. Could a similar entanglement of minds explain our apparent psychic abilities? Dean Radin, senior scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, believes it might.

In this illuminating book, Radin shows how we know that psychic phenomena such as telepathy, clairvoyance, and psychokinesis are real, based on scientific evidence from thousands of controlled lab tests. Radin surveys the origins of this research and explores, among many topics, the collective premonitions of 9/11. He reveals the physical reality behind our uncanny telepathic experiences and intuitive hunches, and he debunks the skeptical myths surrounding them. Entangled Minds sets the stage for a rational, scientific understanding of psychic experience.

"Another book by Dean Radin that helps us understand our Oneness, we are our brothers keeper. Inquiring minds that really want to know, need to read this book. I did! I learned how we bump into others with our Light, which is very important to know.
We can make changes in the world around us by knowing who we are and knowing what our Light is doing as we Yippee down Life's pathway.

  • With Rupert Sheldrake's "The Sense of Being Stared At", this is the best book introducing the general reader to the evidence for psi, or anomalous cognition. Psi generally describes any cognitive event which cannot be explained by contemporary materalistic neuroscience. Well-known examples are telepathy and precognition, but Radin's argument is that these phenomena are not really the special provenance of people called "psychics." Instead, they are part of our own everyday functioning, and known to most of us as thinking of someone before they call you on the telephone. Contrary to the arguments of professional skeptics, psi is not pseudoscience, nor does the evidence really allow any rational doubt. These phenomena have been thoroughly proven, over and over again, with statistical significance. They have been replicated by skeptics. At this point, materialism is just blocking scientific progress, because the goal of psi research should be to situate so-called anomalous cognition within a model of mind-brain interaction that removes the "anomalous" from "anomalous cognition." Such a new scientific worldview would not necessarily be theistic, though the failure of materialism should indicate more openness to theistic belief.

Radin refers to minds as "entangled" because of his own suspicion that psi results from what is called "quantum entanglement", where two particles become associated with one another so that even if separated in space, the activity of one directly affects the activity of another. As more evidence has been gathered in, entanglement has been demonstrated to be widespread, rather than rare, and to have implications outside the quantum world. Our neurons may co-operate with quantum physics to produce effects such as psi. Still, this really can't be anything more than a hunch, and I'm not sure Radin's explanation has anything in particular to commend it over other theoretical frameworks (i.e. Sheldrake's "morphic resonance"), though there's no evidence against it, either.

Still, Radin's book is exceedingly valuable because of the way in which it compiles so much psi research in so many different categories and explains it in terms that can be understood by the general reader.
  • A wild ride through the data supporting psi. I was for many years a reductionist like Michael Shermer. However, after reading more and books like this, my mind has accepted the reality that we know very little about where we came from and what really drives our human experience.
The quantum field seems to be more and more strange and exciting the more I read. It explains alot of the unknown but leaves more questions in its wake. This book at least addresses the strange and wonderful and considers the possibly that classical physics is not only wrong but way wrong.
  • I suspect that a person reading this book already believes in the reality of psi. While I applaud the research and effort to document this reality, perhaps one could have done with less than 12 chapters of it😉. My goal was to learn about the concept of entanglement and the book was very helpful in that regard.

  • I like all of Dean Radin's books. This book is just fascinating.
  • As a person who has scientific training coupled with an interest in metaphysical phenomena I virtually devoured this book. If you could see my copy with all the underlined passages and dog-eared pages you would have some idea of how much I liked it. As a science fiction author myself I was reading it primarily as research for a book I'm currently writing. I not only gained numerous insights and additional ideas related to my own work but learned how much research has been quietly done beyond the scenes in this fascinating field that studies the mysteries of human consciousness. The author's detailed accounts of experiments investigating psychic abilities were well presented and I must say I laughed out loud numerous times at his dry wit and sarcastic humor.

If you have ever experienced deja-vu and wonder if it was just your imagination you will find comfort and validation in this well-documented work. While this field suffers a lot of criticism and ridicule such as found in the old movie "Ghostbusters" when Bill Murray uses a deck of cards with various symbols to convince a young, beautiful conquest of her supposed psychic ability, Dr. Radin uses statistics to demonstrate that such abilities do indeed exist by beating the odds, often by incredible proportions in the range of millions and even billions and beyond to one. There is something going on that is real and he and his colleagues are determined to find out what and how it operates.

Undoubtedly the scientific answers to exactly how these phenomena fit into the "real world" lie within the realms of quantum physics. More and more scientists are exploring the mysteries of human consciousness in a way that cannot be ignored or denigrated to the realms of quacks. Indeed, many of the theories coming out of quantum theory are far weirder than psychic phenomena. The connections humans share, particularly with loved ones, cannot be denied even if they cannot as yet be explained scientifically (i.e. mathematically) yet this work shows that numerous well-trained scientists are giving it the attention it deserves. Those that dismiss it will undoubtedly be forced to eat the proverbial crow at some point and I am confident that Dr. Radin will be the one serving it up.
